About

Raymond Mullin, the developer of Reshaper, is an electrical engineer who has specialized in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design since 1990, and more recently, Advanced Integrated Circuit Packaging Design. In 1990, Vectorworks, then MiniCAD, became his CAD software of choice because of its low cost, its ability to step and repeat objects around a circle with more precision than other available PCB Layout software, further, it ran on the Mac. Though MiniCAD/Vectorworks was/is primarily Architectural Design software, the basic CAD engine was well suited to circuit board design, especially those that were not drawn on 90° grids.

Using his knowledge of computer programming, Raymond constantly developed software tools to aid in his design of Integrated Circuit Tester Hardware. Seventeen years later he traded mils for microns and started designing circuit layouts directly on the backs of Integrated Circuits (ICs) as he applied his skills to Advanced IC Package Design. In all his years of circuit layout, the beauty of the finished work never ceases to amaze, but now he needs a strong magnifier to admire his work.

As a side endeavor, in 2004 Raymond started writing a series of graphic object editors for the Vectorworks CAD software. These were merged into a product he calls Reshaper, and this plug-in enhancement allows Vectorworks users to edit basic 2D and 3D primitive shapes with additional access to their graphical features beyond those provided by the basic software; such as an object’s Rotation angles or its Flipped State. The number of additional editing modes Reshaper enables are too numerous to list here. The Reshaper plug-in can be used to query objects, or to apply changes to their graphic features. In all, Reshaper handles about 28 different geometric object types, and works across the many editing spaces within the Vectorworks CAD environment.
